Meet Anna Vincenti

Committed to Your Well-being

Hi, I am Anna!

I am a licensed Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner from Edinburgh, Scotland. I studied at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM). CICM strives to teach a high-quality, thorough, and integrated course, which has taught me TCM and Five-Element acupuncture. I believe that learning these two systems has given me a strong ground in diagnosis and treatment. My learning in Chinese Medicine did not stop at university, and I have furthered my education by taking CPD courses in advanced channel palpation and facial enhancement.

For many years, I was a professional sports athlete. Unfortunately, most of my career was spent injured, leading to me needing various surgeries and then having long physical rehabilitation to restore my health. During this time, with the number of medical professionals I was having to see, I started to take an interest in the body and became more curious about how it works. Throughout many of my injury rehabilitations, I received acupuncture, which is what sparked my interest in the holistic approach to maintain or reach health.

Studying acupuncture has changed my life, and it amazes me every day in the clinic how powerful this medicine is and how transformational it can be for patients' lives, too. My treatment focuses on areas such as insomnia,  physical pain, enhancing athletic performance and cosmetic acupuncture. However, due to acupuncture having a whole-body approach, every problem has the potential to be addressed, so my practice is not limited to these aspects alone.

I have successfully treated issues such as Bell's Palsy, Cervical Radiculopathy (pinched nerve), anxiety and depression, trauma, sciatica, insomnia, hormone regulation, arthritic pain, menopausal symptoms and fibromyalgia.

When you come in for treatment, expect a peaceful, healing atmosphere. I aim to create an open and attentive space where you’ll receive gentle, personalised care that truly supports your well-being.

My mission is to share the incredible benefits of acupuncture and help you reach your best health. I'm passionate about this medicine and believe in a holistic approach to healing. My goal is to provide the highest level of care, supporting you in every step of your wellness journey. I can’t wait to meet you and work together to help you achieve your full health potential!

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient TCM practice that dates back over 2500 years. It taps into unique channels and points on the body linked to internal organs. When stimulated, these points offer therapeutic benefits, each with its distinct function. By inserting thin needles into these points, acupuncture can strengthen, harmonise, regulate, or drain the targeted channel. It has been shown to be effective for a range of conditions, from joint and muscle pain to internal issues like gastritis and even psychological disorders like insomnia and anxiety.

Fire cupping

Cupping

Fire Cupping

Dry cupping works by creating suction on the skin's surface using cups. This suction pulls the skin and underlying tissue upward into the cup, creating a vacuum-like effect. As a result, it increases blood flow to the area, stimulates the flow of Qi (energy) promotes healing.

During dry cupping therapy, the cups are typically placed on specific points or areas of the body determined by the practitioner. The cups can remain stationary or may be moved around to target different areas. The cups' suction may help release muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. Additionally, dry cupping may help alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and enhance overall well-being.

Gua sha

Guasha

Gua sha

Gua sha works by applying pressure and scraping the skin's surface with a smooth-edged tool, traditionally made of jade or horn, to stimulate blood flow and energy (Qi) in the body. This scraping action creates petechiae, or redness, on the skin, which releases stagnation and promotes healing.

The scraping motion of gua sha helps to break up adhesions and scar tissue, relieve muscle tension, and improve circulation to the area. This increased blood flow can help reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and promote the body's natural healing response.

Gua sha is often used to treat muscle pain and tension, boost the immune system, and support overall health and well-being. It is commonly performed on the back, neck, shoulders, and limbs, but it can also be applied to other areas of the body.

Where are acupuncture needles placed?

The placement of acupuncture needles during treatment depends on the condition being treated and the individual's specific symptoms. The exact locations and number of needles used are determined by the diagnosis and treatment plan. Acupuncture points are situated along meridians throughout the body, allowing practitioners to insert needles in various locations. Often, needles may be placed in areas distant from the site of injury to influence the body's overall energy flow and achieve therapeutic effects.

Does acupuncture hurt?

The acupuncture needles I use are incredibly thin—much finer than the needles used for injections. While you might feel a slight tugging sensation or a dull ache, it’s not painful. In fact, many of my clients are surprised at how gentle it is, often asking, "Is that it?" or "I didn’t even feel the needles come out!" My approach to needling is very gentle, ensuring you feel at ease and comfortable throughout the treatment, with little to no discomfort.

What can acupuncture help with?

The National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognise acupuncture as an effective treatment for a wide variety of medical issues.

The British Acupuncture Council have stated that acupuncture could provide support for conditions such as acne, allergic rhinitis, angina & heart disease, anxiety, asthma, back pain, bells palsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, dementia, dentistry issues, depression, diabetes type 2, dizziness and vertigo, dysmenorrhoea, eczema & psoriasis, endometriosis, facial pain, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, gout, headaches, hypertension, incontinence, infertility, insomnia, neck pain, osteoarthritis of the knee, post-traumatic stress disorder and stroke. However, the research on the benefits of acupuncture on other conditions is continuously being explored. Check out my blog as I keep up to date with all the latest research!
